Dad's Paper Boat

 Dad's Paper Boat

He called for help

Broken and beaten

Meeting after meeten

Facts had all been given

Endless documentation

Growing frustration

Within the walls of Litigation

His voice was never heard

--------

Silenced by the system

kicked and double fisted

Stripped from all freewill

His words severely twisted

In Davy's locker he remained

--------

Falsely accused and framed

Counting back nine years

By his now beloved dame

Drowned in his own tears

Life had all been drained

--------

 Terrible tales cover to cover

Mr. Jones'ees locker

A place that's like no other

Every page a paper boat

Ruled by Captainess Cut-throat

---------

 Revengeful renegades

Of the most unsavory sort

Fuming Mistresses Entitled Politically

Protected by the kangaroo court

--------

Dad's paper boat

Never would it float

Built from worthless hope

Down into the darkness

Fades his stern

Beyond the point

Of no return

Who Am I

 Who Am I

I hide under rocks

And live among stars

I come and go in a blink

Never telling others

How to think

I see through walls

And hear Earth's crying calls

I flow in and out of myself

With simple thoughts

Being my greatest wealth

It's a wonderful place

Out here in space

While observing

The crumbling human race

I always come

When I am called upon

But I know

People will not live

Much passed the day

That I am gone

Last Year Was Different

Last Year Was Different

Last year was different.

Something changed, and not just in my heart, but everyone else's too.

It was like a great river had suddenly ceased to flow.

So, I prayed for the rains to return.

Upon waking the following day,

I heard it begin.

It started with just one single drop, then two, until finally,

I was sure that life had returned.

I hopped out of bed and followed the sound toward the edge of the flowing river.

Unknowingly, a vessel awaited my arrival.

With a gut full of trust,

I gazed, one last time, upon the shaky ground before boarding.

I know I shouldn’t look back, I said to myself, but I must if just for a moment.

It would be nice to return home when this journey is done.

How else will I find my way back……
